The Trans Bhutan Trail has been restored after 60 years, offering a 250-mile route through Bhutan’s stunning landscapes. This historic east-west trail once connected fortresses and sacred sites, and now links Haa in the west to Trashigang in the east, passing over 400 landmarks that showcase Bhutan’s rich heritage.

The Trans Bhutan Trail (TBT) is an ancient path that has long connected the eastern and western regions of Bhutan. For centuries, it was the main route for pilgrims, traders, and messengers. After the construction of motor roads in the 1960s, the trail was forgotten but was revived in 2022 under the vision of His Majesty the King.

This trek is a chance to experience the heart of Bhutan—its culture, wildlife, and history. As you walk along this sacred route, you’ll pass through spiritual shrines, diverse forests, and villages that offer a glimpse into the country’s past. Our version of the trail is inspired by the adventures of our grandfather, who traveled this path in the 1940s and ’50s. You’ll stay in family-run farmhouses, including our own heritage farmhouse in Trongsa, built in the 1960s.

The journey also takes you through Bumthang’s central valleys, where you’ll walk in the footsteps of Bhutan’s founding figures. We offer flexible itineraries, from 6 to 14 nights, and can even adjust the trip to a lodge-to-lodge experience for those who prefer not to camp.
